First of all,water,particles and phospholipids are removed at the stage of  pre-treatment.At the stage of esterification,free fatty acids are converted into fatty acid methyl esters. Then refined oil is reacted with methanol using a hydroxide catalyst in a single-stage process yielding fatty acid methyl esters. After removal of excess methanol, the crude methyl ester is settled to remove the co-product glycerol. Following sedimentation, the ester is vacuum distilled, which removes catalyst residues, free glycerin, and other undesirable products soluble in the ester. After distillation, biodiesel is discharged to storage.

     In February 2014, our company undertook the 20,000 tons/year biodiesel technology upgrading project of Chengdu Yiyou Biochemical Co., Ltd. The project uses waste animal and vegetable oils such as waste oil and swill oil as raw materials to produce biodiesel suitable for automobiles. On the basis of meeting the requirements of process and operation, the designed process and equipment ensure the stable quality of products. The development of biodiesel has great social significance and great influence in replacing petrochemical products, alleviating energy crisis, alleviating environmental pollution and solving food safety.
