According to the statistics of National Bureau of Statistics of China in October 2016: the national oil reserve project has been completed in four countries where oil reserve base reserves 12.43 million tons of crude oil which is equivalent to about 91 million barrels. The total amount of oil storage is equivalent to about 9 days of consumption, which is much lower than the International Energy Agency's proposed 90-day imports. Energy vision estimates that if China's goal is to reserve crude oil which is equivalent of 90 days of imports, then China's strategic oil reserves should be 540 million to 600 million barrels. The gradual depletion of oil resources has made every country trying to increase reserves. Bio-energy is renewable energy and has a huge development space, so the development of biodiesel has been considered as a strategic reserve by a lot of countries.
